Ciao Buttercup!
We make intimates for everyday wear that are as cute as they are comfy. Underwear for lounging! Underwear for sunbathing! Underwear for whenever :)
How it all started:
I started Buttercup in the middle of the pandemic when I realized that I hated all of my bras. My underwired ones were demonically uncomfortable and unnecessarily sexy given that the rest of my outfit was sweatpants and a t-shirt, and all of the comfy-looking ones I could find online resembled orthopaedic shoes (but for boobs).
So I had an idea: a casual, at-home bra that was meant to be cute, not sexy. It had to be super comfy (no wires allowed!), super supportive aaaand better for the planet. I registered the company, my friend Chloe came up with the name Buttercup, and I was off to the races!
We now make undies and tank tops, too. We've only done gingham for now, but more prints are coming!

Better for the Planet
Starting Buttercup has been a journey of learning about materials and where our clothes come from. Most underwear is made from synthetic fibers (mostly plastic), or non-organic cotton. For many reasons, neither of these were options for Buttercup. Our bras and underwear are made of 95% organic cotton and 5% elastane, which is better for you, for the environment, and for workers in our supply chain. Our Non-Profit Partner
A portion of Buttercup's profits goes towards supporting our wonderful giving partner, the Mozambique School Lunch Initiative. We are also able to send them some of our bras and knickers! Our relationship with MSLI gives us a greater purpose than just making people's underwear comfier (though that is nice too!). MSLI have allowed us to play a (very, very) small role in the work that they do: providing mentorship and support to young girls, ensuring boys and girls get the nutrition they need to flourish in school, and supporting local farmers.
